Next Let's Talk Vero and More Important Dates

ree

Hello Let’s Talk Vero friends,

What an extraordinary crowd we had at our last session—so many new faces and fresh perspectives!

We’re changing things up for September 17: count on a sharper focus and even more lively conversation with City Manager Monte Falls and Mayor John Cotugno.

Here is the replay from our last event and please RSVP for September 17 below.

TOP OF THE LIST FOR THE 17th

Our Airport:

JetBlue’s big move here got everyone talking, and interest has grown in the past two weeks with even more airlines eyeing Vero. So—what should our airport become as we grow? Do we hold on to that relaxed, small-town character, or do we steer toward a bigger, busier airport like Melbourne?

That Saint Lucie Vibe

People are joking -- "Didn’t we just celebrate breaking away from Saint Lucie County a hundred years ago?" It seems more and more people are starting to feel -- and talk about—how Vero (and the county) is beginning to look a lot like Saint Lucie. Do you agree? John and Monte will walk us through what’s behind all that. Also, if this concerns you, do everything you can to attend the County Commissioners meeting on the 9th (see below).

Three Corners:

By the 8th, Clearpath will have named their financial partner, so we’ll be ready to discuss what’s next, from negotiation steps to what this new partnership looks like and what it all means for Vero along with timing. If you’re new to the project (or even if you're not) be sure to watch the developer's bold and exciting plan presented at a recent Let's Talk Vero meeting here.

Bring your questions and opinions. As usual, doors open at 5 with complimentary gourmet sandwiches and cash bar. Program begins at 5:30 in the Waxlax Theatre.

UPCOMING IMPORTANT DATES FOR YOUR CALENDAR

Thursday, September 4 - CITY of Vero Beach

  •  5:00 p.m.. -- Special Call Meeting to Discuss Millage Rate. 1053 20th Place

Tuesday, September 9 - COUNTY

  • 9:00 a.m. -- Board of County Commissioners. 1801 27th Street, Building A

If you are concerned about growth, development, environment and affordability -- this is the meeting you don't want to miss and make your opinion known.  It's the comp plan adoption -- the comp plan lays out the legally binding rules and policies that guide all land use, development, conservation, and major decisions in the County for the next 10 to 20 years.

Once adopted by the County and approved by the state, the comprehensive plan sets the standards for every future project and public decision.

See a replay of the pre-meeting here -- you'll see, given we haven't updated the plan since 2008 and there's been explosive growth since then, commissioners want to hear your input and be sure they are submitting something to the state that reflects the community's desires today.
