PLEASE TAKE THIS SURVEY
TC Palm columnist Larry Reisman recently sounded alarms about City Council and County Commission meetings overlapping — questioning whether Vero Beach should try evening sessions to boost turnout. Past efforts didn’t make much difference, but we’re curious what you think.
This survey is an independent community service—not part of City operations. We’ll share results with City Manager Monte Falls and his team as they review scheduling.
The County’s 2026 calendar comes out November 18, and the City will work to plan meetings on adjacent days to make participation easier for everyone.
TWO KEY MEETINGS THIS WEEK
Tomorrow -- Monday, October 20 at 5:01 p.m. — Special Call Meeting on the Sheriff’s Budget
Thursday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. — Joint Board of County Commissioners and Planning & Zoning Committee Meeting. This meeting will focus on the County’s concern about the growing number of cookie-cutter housing developments. While the County’s power to outright reject development submissions is currently limited because many of the submissions (technically) comply, this joint session will likely be the first of several intended to explore how to update rules and design standards so that developer proposals are of higher quality and better reflect the character of Indian River County.

November 5: Let’s Talk Agriculture
Mark your calendar for Let’s Talk Agriculture on Wednesday, November 5, featuring Tony Cho, Louis Schact, Britt Hogan and Commissioner Laura Moss.
The panel will address, among other things, the state of agriculture in Indian River County, including land use, sustainability, and the future of local food systems. More details to come soon.
